Cheap Electric Scooter - Ways To Find A Cheap Electric Scooter

By S.M. Vaidya

There are many ways to find a cheap electric scooter within a lot of models available for sale. Electric scooter is still a new concept and there is a lot more research going on to manufacture the best performance electric scooters that deliver great quality ride.

Because of this reason even the basic electric scooters can cost you something around $700. If you are tight on budget then this can be a little overwhelming to spend that much. But remember that the running cost of an electric scooter is pretty less as compared to fuel driven scooters with an engine.

However here are some of the ways to find a cheap electric scooter.

1) Buy a used electric scooter

A used item is always cheaper than the original one simply because of it's reduced perceived value. If you decide to buy a used one make sure to take a test drive first and also check the necessary legal documents. Always buy from a reputed agent.

2) Visit Auto shows

Many manufacturers give a discount during auto shows. Sometimes you will have to participate in a survey or a contest related to automobiles to become eligible for the discount.

3) Look for discount coupons

You can get discount coupons on various coupon websites on the Internet. These discount coupons can be seasonal and last for a limited amount of time. If you are lucky you can get your hands on a very good offer for a great quality electric scooter.

4) Exchange Offers

You can exchange your old scooter for an electric one. Of course not all manufacturers will have such offers, but if you visit electric scooter showrooms you can get some insider information regarding this.

Sometimes such offers are not advertised very much so you will have to ask for such offers that save you money. When you exchange your old scooter with a new electric scooter, the price of the old one will be deducted from the new one and you will only have to pay the difference. For this automobile showrooms have professional that will evaluate the price of the old scooter based on various factors and deduct this value from the price of the electric scooter so that it becomes cheap for you.

No matter which way you go for getting your own cheap electric scooter, make sure you don't get a cheap quality when you buy one.

Next up the line, you should get a performance carb and/or a new exhaust pipe. You'll need to replace these two components (and probably the air box) at the same time to get the best performance increase. The engine is basically just an air pump. The more air you can move through the engine, the more power you get. Adding a bigger carb draws more air (and more fuel) into the engine. But you restrict the amount of added air if you don't change the air box. You also restrict the amount of air out of the engine if you don't replace the exhaust pipe with a bigger (or more free flowing) exhaust pipe. In addition, just changine the carb changes the fuel / air ratio inside the engine. Your engine may or may not like the change. For instance, the new carb could give you more top end power, but also lead to starting problems. Or it may run better at low RPM's and poor at high RPM's. Tuning for best performance can be a lot of work! Try to buy a kit (carb, air box, exhaust pipe) that is tuned for your scooter. It will make things much easier. Lastly, add the big bore kit. This will give you more torque (pulling power) and better acceleation, but it won't necessarily add top speed unless you make gearing changes. For larger scooters, there aren't too many performance parts available here in the U.S. (except for some of the newer scooters). The easiest thing is to do a web search for "scooter performance parts" and see what you find. Otherwise, you can try:
Replacing your worn drive belt. This will give you a few more MPH because a new belt rides higher in the pulleys. Changing your roller weights (you can use just a slightly heavier rollers for more top speed). Adjusting your valves. Installing a new air filter, change the oil, put in a new spark plug. Keeping your tires at proper inflation levels. This also helps you get better mileage and prevent premature tire wear.
